At the end of this month, the Poland captain will be 33 years old and will be entering the last year of his current deal. And he has made it quite obvious several times that he has no intention of signing a new agreement with the club and will be leaving at the end of the summer.

However, Bayern Munich remained unwavering in their position that they would not sell Lewandowski and instead make him fulfil the remaining terms of his contract.

The striker and the German champions are now engaged in a stalemate, and Barcelona finds itself in the midst of it. The Catalan giants are dead set on bringing in the player from Bayern Munich to spearhead their new initiative under the tutelage of Xavi Hernandez.

Personal conditions have also been settled upon between Lewandowski and Barcelona at this point. Barcelona has presented Bayern Munich with two distinct offers to acquire the centre forward’s services. However, Bayern Munich has not reacted to either offer.

According to a rumour that appeared on the front page of SPORT on June 25, Robert Lewandowski is considering taking things into his own hands to exert pressure on Bayern Munich to begin transfer discussions with Barcelona.

Robert Lewandowski is ready to take matters into his own hands

The Bavarian giants are said to be open to the idea of selling the Poland captain, who is 33 years old, provided they get an offer of about €50 million for him. The bids that Barca has submitted up to this point have been significantly below that threshold. So it will be intriguing to watch whether they increase their offer in the days to come.

On the other hand, Lewandowski has made up his mind and will now do all that is in his power to attempt to make the transfer to Barcelona that he so much wants. There has been some discussion about the possibility of the striker using Article 17 of the FIFA regulations, which would give him the right to try to get out of his contract.

It is now unknown whether or not he will resort to such actions or if Bayern will alter their attitude on the topic.
