Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Is Proving Mikel Arteta And Arsenal Supporters Wrong

The last few months for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been an emotional rollercoaster and his family. At first, his fallout with his former manager Mikel Arteta resulted in him being sidelined and losing captaincy. Thus, his departure from Arsenal became evident during the winter transfer window.

FC Barcelona under their new manager Xavi pounced on this opportunity and signed up the 32 years old. The Gabonese striker was not the Spanish manager’s first choice as the club was looking to bring in Alvaro Morata from Juventus to fill in their number 9 position. That deal eventually did not happen and so, the Aubameyang transfer took place late in January.

A glimpse at the new stint of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Xavi certainly has nothing to complain about as, since his arrival, the former Arsenal man has scored seven goals and provided one assist in LaLiga till now. Xavi is reportedly happy with the striker’s efforts in both the games and training sessions.

From Aubameyang’s perspective, all this is a tight slap to the faces of those Arsenal fans who were saying he was past his prime and not good enough. His current relationship with Xavi is also showcasing what it could have been at Arsenal if only Mikel Arteta had been a bit more patient with him. Thus, Aubameyang took the opportunity of scoring a brace in the El Clasico to show the Arsenal fans and the manager what they are missing out on. After Barcelona’s 4-0 win against Real Madrid, he posted an image of him with a caption saying, “Hello from the finished player” – potentially a dig towards the Gunners who did not believe in him and called him ‘finished’ after a dip in his form.

Well, as for Arsenal, they are doing extremely well themselves as the club is now in the top 4 and are looking to cement their place there. The team is shaping up well since Aubameyang’s departure and Arteta has been able to get his ideas through to his player brilliantly. From Barcelona’s point of view, they have finally got a player they can rely on for the rest of the season as the team looks to make their final push for the UEFA Europa League title and also for a respectable finish in the LaLiga during Xavi’s first season as the new manager.
