“Why have Arsenal bid for him? He is not good” Fabregas shocked by Arsenal’s £45m bid

Cesc Fabregas surprised by former club’s bid to sign forward

In a recent interview with the London world, midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas admitted that he was not quite expecting his former club to go for the signing of Gabriel Jesus. He said that maybe they should have instead opted for ‘another type of striker.’

It does make sense however that Arsenal has decided to single out Gabriel to swoop up this summer. At least the reasons are justified on paper. The Brazilian international has, despite everything that has been said against him, proved himself worthy of Premier League material.

On top of it, he may find it comfortable in a dressing room full of Portuguese strikers. And to add to it all, he has worked under Mikel Arteta before during his stint at Manchester City. Arteta had worked as the assistant manager under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

Besides, Arsenal could really use a cheap option right now. In fact, Gabriel’s 43 million Pound bid is much more cost-effective than the alternatives available. The likes of DusanVlahovic, Darwin Nunez, Alexander Isak and Dominic Calvert-Lewin certainly will not come as cheap as the City star.

What did Fabregas say?

However, Cesc Fabregas continues to harbour doubts. While he does admit that Arsenal desperately needs a proper striker, his confidence in Jesus’s abilities is not considerable. The former Gunner has doubts whether the Brazilian can continue to score without the services of Kevin De Bruyne.

The Spanish international said, “the only thing missing (at Arsenal) is the striker. I think if they had a consistent enough striker, a top player who scores 25 to 30 goals a season like Liverpool with Salah, that would take them to the next level.”

However, his initial point of objection to the transfer was based on tactical points. “I expected Arsenal to sign another type of striker – someone who attacks the space more. I really like Gabriel as a player and I think he can do a little bit of everything but I wouldn’t say he’s amazing at anything,” said the 2010 World Cup winner.

He also pointed out the help that Jesus receives from his teammates at Manchester City. “Sometimes, when you have got De Bruyne, Gundogan and Bernardo Silva behind you, it can feel easy as a player. At Arsenal, for some time at least, he will not have that kind of players behind him,” Fabregas pointed out.

Gabriel’s agent did mention it to Fabrizio Romano however that they have discussed with Arsenal over the player. “We had talks with Arsenal about Gabriel Jesus. There are six more clubs interested in Gabriel,” he confirmed. However, whether such a move will materialize or not is yet to be seen.
