“Arteta Doesn’t Trust Him”- Journalist Claims That Arsenal Will Sell Their Star Player This Summer

Since Aaron Ramsdale has established himself as the starting goalkeeper for Arsenal in the 2021-22 season, Bernd Leno, the club’s previous starting goalkeeper, has a role of a bench warmer. Now, rumours indicate that the German’s time at the north London club may have come to an end. The club may sell him during the next transfer window.

According to the assertions of writer Paul Brown of the Daily Star, Mikel Arteta allegedly “doesn’t trust” Leno. The Spaniard has pushed upon and educated his players to play out from the back, with the distribution of the ball by the goalkeeper being of the greatest significance to how they play the game. However, Arteta is not entirely confident in the ability of his backup goalkeeper to play out from the back.

What did Brown say?

In a discussion with GIVEMESPORT, Brown refuted the possibility that the 30-year-old player would return to Arsenal for a further campaign. He said:

“In no way, shape, or form. Several months ago, Arsenal decided to move on from Leno. Arteta doesn’t trust him with the ball at his feet. He knows that he doesn’t have a future with the club.”

Earlier in the month of January, Football London published an article stating that the German international had decided to quit the Gunners since he was receiving practically no opportunities to start for the club. It was reported that Newcastle United was interested in taking him on loan. But Arsenal did not have any other goalkeepers available. So Leno decided to remain with the club.

Brown is under the impression that Arsenal is resolute in their efforts to remove him from their roster this summer, having made such efforts in the past.

“They have been trying to sell him for the last couple of windows. I believe this is the moment where he will get a move,” he went on to say after that.

The transfer fee of €25 million was paid to Bayer Leverkusen in 2018 for the services of the 30-year-old player. Since then, he has played 125 games for them. But this year, Ramsdale has usurped his starting position, and as a consequence, he has only played in eight games across all competitions. His current market value is estimated to be 10 million euros. He has one more year left on his contract.

The goalkeeper who will replace Leno at Arsenal will come from the MLS in the summer

Already, Mikel Arteta has put up an offer for a replacement for Aaron Ramsdale. After the conclusion of the current campaign in the United States, MLS player Matt Turner, who plays for the New England Revolution, will report to the Emirates. Transfermarkt claims that the United States national team player will be joining Arsenal in a deal for €6.36 million.

This year, he has had to spend a considerable portion of his time receiving treatment for a hairline crack in his foot. Nonetheless, he made his comeback to the game in May. Turner has gone from being a regular starter for the New England Revolution to competing for a starting berth on Arteta’s side. As a result, he may be putting his position on the national team in jeopardy for the World Cup that will take place later this year.
