At the beginning of the International break, there were rumours that suggested Gabriel Martinelli is not happy at Arsenal and is looking for a move away from the Emirates. The 20-year-old signed for The Gunners in 2019 and has been regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the league after he had brilliant outings in red and white.
Injuries have been a major obstacle that has stopped Martinelli to use his potential to the fullest. The forward was injured for more than half of the season last year and looks set to miss Arsenal’s next game against Crystal Palace as well. Here is what manager Mikel Arteta had to say about Martinelli’s injuries and transfer update.
In a recent interview, Arteta has revealed that Martinelli caught an injury last week, and it is not confirmed if he will be available for the match on Monday. When asked if there was a possibility of the Brazilian leaving on a loan this January, Mikel replied “No, I’m very happy with him, and we aren’t thinking about anything like that”
He further added that “Unfortunately he got injured last week, its a minor injury, but we don’t know if he is going to be available for Monday”
Gabriel Martinelli made his first outing this season when he started against Brentford in the opening game of the league. He failed to make an impact in any of the matches he has played so far, which led to him being benched after a couple of games. There have also been reports that suggest Martinelli has not been satisfied by the amount of playing time he has got at the club.
Newcastle United reportedly are interested in signing Arsenal’s forward, Gabriel Martinelli but Mikel Arteta has ruled out the possibility of the same. Is the Brazilian in Arteta’s plans, or will he be sent out on loan once he’s fit to play again?
