Arsenal News Transfer: Arsenal veteran Kevin Campbell has issued a warning to his old club that it would not be cheap to get Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to the Emirates Stadium. Campbell believes that the transfer fee for Osimhen will be in the range of twenty million euros. The striker played 32 times for the Italian club and scored 18 goals for them while playing in Serie A.
Osimhen is just 23 years old, so it is reasonable to anticipate that he will continue to mature. Despite this, Campbell has claimed that the deal would be a costly one. Campbell shared the following statement with Football Insider:
“At a minimum, he will set Arsenal back 80 million pounds. To tell you the truth, scoring the number of goals that he scored last year hasn’t hurt him in any way. He has performed well. Osimhen is lightning fast and can hold the ball aloft while also having the ability to head it. He does a decent job at attacking the ball.”
Campbell also made the comparison between the superstar of Napoli and the former attacker for Chelsea, Tammy Abraham, and said:
“A striker like him, who can also play other positions, is going to cost a lot of money. Both Tammy Abraham and Osimhen have some of the same characteristics. You can get a sense of the kind of player that Arsenal wants to sign. If you opt for Osimhen, you won’t receive anything different on your investment of £80 million.”
There have already been rumours circulating that Arsenal may make an offer for Osimhen. But it is not certain whether or not the Gunners would do all in their power to bring Osimhen aboard.
The Gunners want to revitalize their roster in preparation for next year’s campaign in which they will compete for spots in the Champions League.
TuttoJuve has indicated (via Caught Offside) that the Gunners are also interested in Weston McKennie. This comes at the same time as the Gunners are working on completing the sale of Osimhen. However, the north London club will have to compete with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, who are also interested in the player.
The midfielder, who formerly played for Schalke, hasn’t seen regular playing time since joining Juventus. But his performances have been impressive enough to pique the curiosity of English clubs. It has been reported that all three clubs are willing to fork over €40 million to get the American midfielder.
The Gunners are in desperate need of reinforcements in the center of the field. McKennie has the potential to provide the Gunners with some steadiness in the middle of the park. As Antonio Conte continues to mould Spurs into a winning team, Tottenham has a significant interest in acquiring the midfielder as well.
As the club is expected to compete in the Champions League the next year, Conte’s squad will need more choices. The addition of McKennie would most surely give depth.
Both teams, along with Newcastle, will compete for the player’s signature if they want to sign him. The Magpies of Eddie Howe have established themselves as formidable players in the market. They may compete with the two north London teams for the signing of Weston McKennie.
