Arsenal Is Planning To Bring Back Their Former Star To Bolster Their Midfield

Arteta needs some solid planning to plug the gap between the midfield and the striking line

Arsenal is considering a startling swoop of their erstwhile midfield stalwart, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. He spent a staggering six seasons at the Emirates before moving to Anfield in the summer of 2017.

As per the reports, Chamberlain is desperately seeking out from Anfield after being frustrated by the lack of opportunities coming his way. He was an instrumental part of the League-winning squad a couple of years back and has expressed interest in a reconciliation with his former teammate, Mikel Arteta.

Why did Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fall out of favour with Jurgen Klopp?

His prospects were further dented by a knee injury last year and ever since he has managed to rack up just four starts for Liverpool. Despite his contract running fresh till 2023, he is already seeking new suitors who can help him with a sense of accomplishment.

It is expected that Liverpool will process his release given the transcendence of Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott in Klopp’s newfound plans. However, this will only happen if he is coming with a club that has a deep pocket.

Arsenal has expressed interest in an initial six-month loan with the probability of a permanent deal that may happen at the end of the season. Oxlade-Chamberlain shares a good bond with the current manager, Mikel Arteta who joined the Gunners in 2011.

Why is Arteta considering a move for the Liverpool midfield ace back to Arsenal?

Arsenal managed to rope in Alex for 15 million Euros when the 17-year-old arrived at Emirates from the Saints. He was an instant sensation after an impeccable display in the midfield.

Arteta has been observant of the fact that maybe his re-introduction to the Arsenal pecking order will fuel the prospects of youngsters like Emile Smith-Rowe, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard.

With Granit Xhaka sidelined with an injury, Arsenal will be needing all the help they can when the team arrives in the winter window. Alex may pick Arsenal for another reason because that will give him an opportunity to be with his partner, Perrie Edwards, who recently gave birth to her first child.
