Youri Tielemans Does Not Regret Staying At Leicester City

A hero called Youri Tielemans: The highs and the lows are part and parcel of football. You go down with the aim of getting up again and you go up with the understanding that you may go down again. Something similar is now happening at Leicester City. The Foxes won the 2015/16 Premier League title to create a football fairytale story but this season, with seven games in, they are struggling to get out of the relegation zone.

After picking up only one point and having lost six games in a row, they now found themselves at the bottom of the league table. The team has conceded 4+ goals in back-to-back matches and 22 in total in the seven league games played. The club manager Brendan Rodgers’ job is also on the line and with the morale being extremely low in the dressing room, the squad has entered the international break phase.

This is what Youri Tielemans had to say about his residence at Leicester City

Another talking point around the club is the future of Youri Tielemans. The Belgian midfielder was on the verge of leaving the club for the current table toppers Arsenal. The 25-year old was close to joining the Gunners and the rumours were quite strong at one point. But Leicester held on and eventually, the player also decided to stay, so the interested cooled off towards the end of the transfer window. His contract with the Foxes expires after the current season and as things stand, he may well leave the club on a free transfer after that.

Tielemans shares a bittersweet relationship with the Foxes

Despite the club’s current status and league position, Tielemans mention in a recent interview, “Just because things are getting worse now at Leicester doesn’t mean I should regret”. He has been a loyal servant of the club since joining them from AS Monaco in 2019. After establishing himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the league, he is bound to get top suitors in case he decides to leave Leicester City after this season.

The Foxes would love to retain one of their star performers but for that to happen, their form must improve and the team must avoid relegation. So, all in all, the drama around Youri Tielemans’ future is sure to become more exciting.
