“Try to ask without using the word spark”-Jurgen Klopp hits back at Dietmar Hamann’s ‘lack of spark’ statement against Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has voiced his anger over comments made by Dietmar Hamann, a former player for the Reds, in which he stated that the Premier League team is now lacking a “spark.”

The Reds have gotten off to a disappointing start to the 2022-23 Premier League season, as shown by the fact that they have only won two of their first eight matches. The club’s performance in the UEFA Champions League has not inspired much confidence, although they have been victorious in two of their three Group A matches thus far.

During an appearance on talkSPORT, Hamann said that the Merseyside club’s troubles during this season are not even close to being done.

He went on to explain: “This Liverpool team looks like it’s been playing for a long time. They look tired, slow, and just flat. I don’t know where the spark will come from because they’ve won games before. For example, they beat Rangers, even though Rangers is a much worse team. I’m sure they’ll figure out where the spark will come from, but I don’t know if it’s the end of an era. I wouldn’t count them out, but in the next few weeks, I can’t see where the spark is going to come from.”

Klopp was questioned about his thoughts on Hamann’s statements at the pre-game press conference that he attended.

According to the Daily Star, he said to the reporters: “Who said that? [Hamann?] Oh great! A fantastic source, well respected everywhere. [However,] that does not give you the right to say what you want, especially when you have no idea. I actually think Didi Hamann does not deserve that you use his phrase to ask a question. Do me a favour and ask your own question. Try to ask without using the word spark.”

Liverpool is presently in 10th place in the Premier League standings with 10 points after eight games played during the 2022-2023 season. On Wednesday, the team will play their next match in the UEFA Champions League against Rangers at the Ibrox (October 12).
