Toni Kroos Has A Bid From European Side; Real Madrid Responds
Toni Kroos is apparently considering the possibility of leaving Real Madrid in the summer. Manchester City is on high alert as a result
The report from Fichajes claims that Manchester City is showing interest in signing Toni Kroos. Due to the expiration of his current contract after the season, the German playmaker’s long-term future at Real Madrid is in question. Kroos might depart the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2023. He could even retire from professional football in the summer of the following year.
According to Real Madrid’s policy, the club is not willing to provide Kroos with a contract extension that is more than one year in duration. It was one of the primary reasons for Sergio Ramos’ departure from Real Madrid last summer. It looks that Kroos is in a similar predicament since he has indicated that he has no intention of signing a one-year deal.
The possibility exists that Kroos will leave Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season to make one final move in his professional career. It has heightened the tensions at Manchester City. Manager Pep Guardiola is a major admirer of the Real Madrid playmaker.
Kroos, a former Bayern Munich player, had previously played for Bayern Munich under Pep Guardiola during a season in Bavaria. Following issues with the club’s board, he played in 51 competitive matches under the Manchester City manager before departing for Real Madrid in 2014.
Kroos’ Future:
The transfer has paid off for the footballer. He has gone on to win four UEFA Champions League championships with Real Madrid as a result of the deal. The midfielder has played an important part in forming the Los Blancos roster. He has been an important member of the team for many years. Thus, having appeared in over 355 matches for the club throughout his career.
Manchester City is on the lookout for a new midfielder in the summer. Fernandinho is poised to depart the club after the current season. Mikel Merino, Real Sociedad’s rising star, has been linked with a transfer to the Citizens. The latter is even prepared to activate the player’s €60 million release clause.
However, in Kroos, Guardiola may have found himself a seasoned leader. He can provide both a winning mindset and steadiness in the centre of the field. The Real Madrid playmaker is quite skilled at set-piece deliveries. He might provide Manchester City with the talent that they need to finally break their European tournaments curse in the next season.
