According to a report by the Spanish daily AS, guaranteeing Marco Asensio’s long-term future at Real Madrid is one of the club’s top goals for the next season. The Merengues will meet down with the 26-year-old striker soon to discuss a new deal. The player is also having an interest to extend his time at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond this season.

Marco Asensio has done a commendable job in the present campaign of progressively putting his difficulties behind him. Following his recovery from a long-term knee ailment, the Spanish international was a source of controversy. He even had a poor start to the 2021/22 season. But he has recaptured his finest form during the previous three months.

The La Liga Giants Want To Extend The Stay Of Their Star Player

Asensio has a strong record this season. He has scored nine goals and provided one assist in 28 games across all competitions. Despite this, Real Madrid is in a pickle due to the 26-year-contract old’s predicament, since he has reached the last 18 months of his current deal with the club. If the Merengues do not sign the player to a new deal before the end of the summer transfer window, the situation will deteriorate even more and become more complex.

Asensio, on the other hand, is eager to prolong his time at the Santiago Bernabeu. He believes that he still has a lot of opportunities to grow as a player. Recent rumours have even suggested that the Spanish attacker is willing to turn down lucrative offers from European powerhouses Arsenal and Liverpool to remain at Real Madrid.

Also, even though Kylian Mbappe will be joining Real Madrid on a free transfer during the summer transfer window, the 26-year-old feels he has a chance to be successful in Spain. It has been claimed that Mbappe has struck an agreement with Real Madrid on a pre-contract basis. He might be the club’s headline summer acquisition.

Asensio and Real Madrid, on the other hand, might find themselves in a great situation. The club is prepared to offer the player a new contract. According to AS, the La Liga heavyweights want to reward their finest players with lucrative new contracts. Eder Militao and Vinicius Jr are among those expected to sign new terms soon.

As for Asensio, Real Madrid and the 26-year-old attacker are expected to start negotiations shortly about a contract extension. Asensio may sign a new contract sooner rather than later, given the willingness of both sides to prolong their union.
