Real Madrid has done it yet again. They have knocked out Manchester City and Pep Guardiola from the Champions League, a team that was expected to be one of the favourites to win this year’s title by some Pundits. However, football is not a game that is won on paper and that was proven yet again in an epic battle at the Bernabeu.
After winning the first leg 4-1 and scoring the opening goal of the game in Spain via Mahrez, City would have thought that they had all but won it. However, fate and Rodrygo had other plans. The attacker scored twice in normal time to take the game to extra time.
Once that had happened, Manchester City’s heads seem to drop. Things went from bad to worse for Pep Guardiola and co. What seemed like an easy victory and a date with Liverpool, turned further into a nightmare when Karim Benzema converted a spot-kick in the 95th minute of the match.
There was no coming back for the Cityzens and when the referee blew the final whistle, the Bernabeu erupted in celebration. Not just the fans in the stadium, but the ones sitting at home went berserk. They could not believe what they had just witnessed, though this is just the Real Madrid way.
