Real Madrid is reportedly interested in signing Theo Hernandez in the summer of 2023. The information comes courtesy of the Italian media site Calciomercatoweb. Los Blancos have identified the 25-year-old AC Milan left-back as one of three primary transfer targets for the next season.
Career-wise, Theo Hernandez has settled comfortably since joining AC Milan from Real Madrid in July 2019. Career-wise, the French left-back had stalled throughout his time with Los Blancos. The young talent who formerly played for Atletico Madrid has excelled in Italy, where he is now a captain for the Rossoneri.
The 25-year-old has appeared for AC Milan 140 times, contributing 22 goals and 27 assists. As the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar kicks off this coming weekend, Hernandez will also be representing France there. Furthermore, the player’s development has caught the eye of Real Madrid, one of his previous teams.
In the next summer transfer window, Real Madrid might want to add a left-back to their roster. Carlo Ancelotti has two left-backs to choose from, but he may approve of a new addition for next season. David Alaba is getting on in years and is more comfortable in the centre of defence. And Ferland Mendy, well, he’s been a little on the lukewarm side the last couple of years.
The future of the French defender has reportedly not been fixed in stone, according to recent sources. Furthermore, Theo Hernandez, Mendy’s countryman, may soon replace him on Real Madrid’s roster. Fran Garcia, a left-back who has previously spoken about his desire to return to Real Madrid, is another player on Los Blancos’ radar.
Theo Hernandez, who will be 25 years old when he returns to Real Madrid, will be playing at the top of his game. The French left-back has the talent and character to finally break through at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu. According to the rumour, Hernandez is one of Real Madrid’s top three transfer targets with Nicolo Barella and Erling Haaland.
In the summer of 2023, it will be quite intriguing to watch whether the three players go to the Bernabeu. Since Haaland seems unlikely to leave Manchester City, Hernandez may be the most probable choice to join Real Madrid.
