As reports of dissent and lack of gametime at Old Trafford sparked moments of discontent in the Dutch midfielder, he wanted to engineer a move away from United in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal initially inquired about Donny Van de Beek before roping in Albert Sambi Lokonga and completing a permanent move of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid. However, after the two signings, the Gunners didn’t really continue their interest in the former Ajax midfielder.

However, the fact that he still hasn’t managed to rack himself some gametime and has been warming the bench, the Arsenal fans believe that their club may once again pursue the young sensation in the winter window.

Arsenal icon, Ian Wright weighed in on with his opinion regarding the involvement of Van De Beek. He said on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, “Donny van de Beek, he’s someone that I wish someone more like Arsenal could have taken. When you look at [Paul] Pogba, what he’s doing, and you look at Bruno Fernandes – that is Donny van de Beek’s position.”

He continued by saying, “So people are thinking they’re going to see Van de Beek [sitting] with Pogba and Fernandes, but I don’t think that’s going to happen, because as much as he can play there, that’s not his preferred position to play.”

He concluded by saying that Donny is an excellent player but his timing of arrival at Manchester wasn’t ideal and that is what has been the major cause of all the indifference.
