Managers have always been an instrumental part of the Premier League and the kind of legacy a few have left behind has been nothing short of absolute wonders. In order to honour two of the biggest names in managing echelons in the antiquity of EPL, EPL inducted Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger into the Premier League Hall of Fame.
The duo sparked a historic legacy combined as they secured 16 Premier League titles collectively. Not only did they win the silverwares to add sheen to the panoply of laurels that they had for themselves but they also gifted the league one of the fames and fiercest rivalries.
Going by the definition of Premier League Hall of Fame, it states, “The Hall of Fame recognises and celebrates individuals who have an exceptional record of success and have made a significant contribution to the Premier League since its inception in 1992.” It is also the highest individual award given to an individual.
Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the most prolific managers of all time as his reign with Manchester United saw a flurry of trophies raining over the Theatre of Dreams, winning the Premier League a staggering 13 times, the highest by any individual manager and also winning it on three consecutive seasons twice.
During an excellent 27-year career at Old Trafford, which witnessed 21 Premier League seasons, his Manchester United side won the inaugural Premier League title in 1992/93 to deliver the club’s first league success since 1967 and emanate a chain of triumphs.
Ferguson said, “I’m truly delighted to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. It’s an honour when you receive recognition like this. However, it’s not just about me as a person. It’s about the job at Manchester United and the bond we had over many years, so I’m also proud for the club, the staff and my players.”
He further continued, “My job was to send the fans home happy. United’s history and my own expectations were the things that drove me, and I then had to try and develop all my players with the same expectations and make sure we could go out and achieve them.”
Twitter had their own say in the entire matter as this was a move of a kind by the Premier League.
