“My Focus Will Be On United”: Erik Ten Hag Reveals His Plans For Manchester United

Manchester United recently appointed the Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag as their new manager and the speculation over what the future holds for the team is already pretty exciting for the majority of the fans. Ten Hag’s Ajax had been a surprise package in the UEFA Champions League throughout and it played a big role in him taking over the hot seat from Ralf Rangnick. Even though United will not be a part of next season’s UCL, the club wants to build a team around Ten Hag.

The squad has a few players who may suit the style of Ten Hag’s gameplay but a lot of the players are not fit for the possession-based style of play. So, a squad overhaul may be incoming but it may take some time for the board to give Ten Hag what he wants. Speaking of misfits, the media has once again put their focus on Cristiano Ronaldo and whether or not he can Ten Hag’s style.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Erik Ten Hag: In Sync Or Out Of It?

In a recent interview, Ten Hag mentioned that he would now put all his focus on United and analyse their games to understand the team better. He said, “From tomorrow, my focus will be on United, and I will of course get deep into things there”. During this, he hailed Ronaldo as a ‘giant’. Even when he wants United to play as a functional team, he understands that ‘giant’ Ronaldo can change things around quickly.

Whether or not Ronaldo will stay at United is still unclear as the Red Devils are set to miss out on a UCL spot this season. So, not getting to retain Ronaldo will be a huge miss for Ten Hag as the club wants to compete at the highest level of world football.

Ronaldo is the top scorer of the team and if he decides to leave, the club will have to spend big to sign a replacement for him. So, the initial meetings and conversations between Ronaldo and Ten Hag are going to be key for all the parties involved and Manchester United’s future depends a lot on Ten Hag’s persuasion skills.
