Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta has not ruled out the potential prospect to extend Lacazette’s contract which will further commit him to stay at the club till 2025. The Frenchman joined Arsenal from French club, Lyon in 2017 under former manager, Arsene Wenger. Since then, Alexandre Lacazette has gone on to make over 175 appearances for the club and has found the back of the net 68 times.
Lacazette’s time at the Emirates has been quite a roller-coaster. While his first season under the guidance of Wenger was world-class, he has lacked consistency since then. With his contract coming to an end, the striker is slowly and steadily finding his form back.
Alexandre came off the bench and made an instant impact against Crystal Palace on Monday as Arsenal clinched a point at the brink of the full-time whistle. Coming off a brilliant performance, the gaffer backed him against Aston Villa as Alexandre Lacazette started in a Premier League game for Arsenal for the first time since December.
Lacazette’s contract is now coming to an end and will be a free agent next summer if he does not agree on signing a new contract with the Gunners. The forward can also agree on signing a pre-contract agreement with any club that approaches him. In conversation with the media, Mikel Arteta had his say on the same.
When asked about Lacazette, Arteta said: “No, I wouldn’t say that. Anything is possible.” He also added that “It depends on a lot of things, it is not just a matter of being willing, it is about being possible to fulfill that will and when which is very important as well.”
