Even after Arsenal’s victory against Brentford, manager Mikel Arteta feels that his club still has a long way to go to secure a spot in the top four. After squandering points against relegation rival Burnley earlier this month, Arsenal have now won back-to-back matches in the Premier League to keep their slim chances of finishing in the top four alive. As Mikel Arteta reveals if Arsenal will be able to finish in the Top 4.
Last weekend, Mikel Arteta’s team earned a hard-fought 1-0 success over Wolves, and they followed it up with a 2-1 triumph over London rivals Brentford on Saturday, taking retribution for their 2-0 loss to the Bees on the opening day of the season.
Arsenal has moved to within one point of Manchester United, who are now in the fourth position, as a consequence of the outcome. Arsenal has two games in hand over Manchester United, giving them a significant edge in the race for a place in the UEFA Champions League for the next season.
Manager Mikel Arteta, on the other hand, refused to get carried away and stressed that the club still had a long way to go before achieving its goals.
“There is still a long way to go,” the Spaniard stated after the victory against Brentford (via Sky Sports). “However, since we won our game, we are a little bit closer to our goal today. We must do so. By looking at the outcomes, you can realise how difficult it is to win in this league,” stated Arteta.
Arsenal will be in action on Thursday when they will be at the Emirates Stadium to face Wolverhampton Wanderers. Because the Midlands club has also emerged as possible dark horses in the hunt for the European berths, Arteta maintained that the Gunners would need to retain their concentration and momentum as the season nears its conclusion.
“So we have to go on Thursday again and prepare really well because it is going to be a very tough encounter against Wolves,” Arteta added. “We need to perform well to win, and we want to become better and better and better at what we do. We can’t go too far out of our way to get answers. Things are changing at a breakneck pace. The competition in this league is really tough to win games in,” the Arsenal manager added.
Both Manchester United and West Ham United, who are above Arsenal in the Premier League table, have been extremely inconsistent of late, and it will be up to Arteta and his team to ensure that they take advantage of any slip-ups by maintaining their winning momentum.
