After thrashing Aston Villa 3-1 at home, the Gunners now look stronger than ever. With this win, Mikel Arteta’s men have gone on a six-match unbeaten run in the Premier League. Arsenal were all over Villa as Partey opened the scoring, this goal was also the midfielder’s long-awaited first goal for the club. Captain Aubameyang was the second to follow and doubled the lead for his team after a controversial penalty decision was given Arsenal’s name.
Martinez denied Auba’s attempt from the spot but the Gabonese converted it on the rebound. In the second half, Arsenal’s number 10 Emile Smith-Rowe pretty much closed the game as he brushed off a brilliant goal which made it 3-0. The Emirates danced with joy after a much-needed win.
With this win, Arsenal goes up to P9 in the points table with 14 points to their name.
In the post-match conference, gaffer Mikel Arteta answered all the queries related to injuries and suspensions. Aubameyang was subbed off at the brink of the full-time whistle as he made way for Gabriel Martinelli. The club captain was seen limping, when asked about him, Arteta replied ‘No, no he was cramping.’ indicating that it was just due to fatigue.
His partner-in-crime, Alexandre Lacazette put out a brilliant display as well. He picked up a knock and instantly asked for substitution as Odegaard came on for the Frenchman. Although it did seem serious at that moment, Mikel Arteta confirmed that Lacazette’s exit was just because of fatigue as well.
On the other hand, Kieran Tierney did not start the game altogether. He reportedly missed training and is in doubt for the upcoming games as well. ‘We don’t know how long he’s going to be out’, said Mikel Arteta about Tierney.
