Manchester United May Hand Over Dream Number To Erling Haaland Should The Transfer Move Go Through

Manchester United opened their training complex after a brief hiatus that was compelled by the surging Omicron cases. Securing a hard-fought victory against Norwich, Manchester United had to stop their on-field operations after a Covid crisis that impacted a few players and staff.

Before the brief halt, Manchester United had undergone a major change in personnel with Ralf Rangnick stepping in to fill the void left by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United in a jealous suitor hot on the heels of Erling Haaland

As new faces took the helm of the club, a major development is already under process as Manchester United is hot on the trails of Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland. Going by the reports of Manchester Evening News, Rangnick is heavily impressed by the Dortmund striker’s finishing ability.

Haaland will be coming in the place of Anthony Martial who has struggled at Old Trafford for a while and continues to lack game time even under the new coach. There are big talks of the Frenchman leaving in January and United will be desperate to land the Norwegian marksman either in the upcoming window or the forthcoming summer.

The French forward’s agent has already divulged the fact that he intends to depart from the club in the forthcoming winter.

Sevilla is one of the most persistent suitors to land the Frenchman in their ranks after Martial has blown hot and cold in his trail so far.

The exit of Martial will free up shirt number 9 that can be given to Erling Haaland and is a dream for many players. It has so far been donned by Louis Saha, Dimitar Berbatov, Radamel Falcao, Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Romelu Lukaku. Martial continues to hold it despite a limited number of appearances since last season.

The Frenchman has so far registered 79 goals in his residence at Old Trafford since 2015. He had a promising start with 17 goals and some neat footwork but couldn’t really complete his rise to glory due to glaring inconsistency.

Haaland has been an absolute phenomenon ever since his arrival to Dortmund. Even in the ongoing season, he has managed to fire home 19 goals from 16 matches while in 2020, he fired 41 netters from 41 appearances. Adding to his 27 Bundesliga strikes, he also managed to hammer home 10 goals from 8 matches.
