‘The player needs to decide’-Manchester United and Chelsea lock horns for the signing of a youth prodigy

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that both Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in Red Bull Salzburg wonderkid Benjamin Sesko.

The meeting between Chelsea and Sesko’s representatives took place a week ago, as the Italian journalist disclosed. He has also alleged that Manchester United representatives visited the 19-year-old player’s representatives on many occasions.

According to Romano, the Slovenian has received attention from Chelsea as well, and he must now decide what he will do with the balance of his professional career. In addition to this, he said that Salzburg has high hopes of keeping its star attacker for at least one more campaign.

Red Bull Salzburg has been responsible for the development of several leading players over the last several years, including Erling Haaland, Patson Daka, Sadio Mane, and many more.

It would seem that Sesko will be the next great export from an Austrian Bundesliga team. After recording 10 goals and seven assists in 36 appearances across all competitions during the 2021-22 season, the Slovenian international has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in all of global football.

During the 2020–21 season, Sesko was on loan to the FC Liefering team that competed in the Austrian second tier. He played in 29 games and scored 21 goals, making him the second-best goalscorer in the league.

The 19-year-old striker has been compared to Erling Haaland very often because they have comparable physical size. Yet, he is a different sort of striker. The fact that the Slovenian prefers to come deep to have the ball and often drifts wide to create space for teammates centrally makes him more of a complete forward.

Sesko, who has already earned 13 caps for his nation, surely has a bright future ahead of him, but he has to select his next club very wisely to maximize that potential.
