After getting subbed off versus Tottenham Hotspur due to an injury, Arsenal have officially released a statement regarding Granit Xhaka. The midfielder was subbed off just eight minutes before the full-time whistle after suffering a horrific collision with Spurs midfielder, Hojbjerg. While the injury did not look as it has now turned out to be, manager Mikel Arteta concluded his post-match conference by saying they’ll see how bad Granit Xhaka’s injury is. The midfielder had a brilliant comeback game in the North London Derby as Arsenal thrashed Tottenham 3-1 at the Emirates.
In a statement released by the club, Arsenal have said that Xhaka does not require any sort of surgery and that his recovery will start immediately. The reported time they are aiming for his comeback is close to three months, which means he should be available again for team selection in January if all things go the way as planned.
The Gunners have already suffered a lot at the beginning of the season due to injuries, and Granit Xhaka’s injury could be another big blow. Granit is a vital part of the team and controls the midfield as he is very dominating and commanding. His partnership with Thomas Partey is one of the many reasons Arsenal are now back on track and have won three games consecutively in the Premier League, as both of them provide stability in the side.
Arsenal also have a lack of depth in the midfield, as the midfield options for Mikel Arteta are now very limited. While Thomas Partey is now fit to start, other than him there are only three midfielders which are Lokonga, Elneny, and Maitland-Niles. It will be interesting to see who Thomas Partey will partner up with against Brighton and in future games as well.
