Putting all the speculations to an end, Jurgen Klopp finally put pen to the paper. The Liverpool manager has now signed a new two-year extension to his contract at the Anfield. It was rumored that the German might step down in 2024, which is when his current contract was due to end. Not only has he committed himself until 2026, his assistant coaches Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, have also signed extensions through 2026.
Jurgen Klopp has so far led Liverpool to two historic titles in Champions League (2019) and the Premier League (2020). He has also won the Carabao Cup, Club World Cup, and the Super Cup since joining the Merseyside club. Liverpool are in for a historic season this year with Klopp’s side being in contention for a quadruple.
They have already won the Carabao Cup, will face Chelsea in the FA Cup final, and are in contention for both UCL and the Premier League. A fantastic 2-0 win over Villareal in the first leg of the Semi-finals of the UCL has provided them the chance to lift the Champions League title for the second time under Jurgen Klopp. The Reds are just one point behind league leaders Manchester City with just 5 games to go in the season.
“There are so many words I could use to describe how I am feeling about this news… delighted, humbled, blessed, privileged, and excited would be a start,” Klopp told LiverpoolFC.com. Describing his love for the club’s environment, he continued “There is just so much to love about this place. I knew that before I came here, I got to know it even better after I arrived and now I know it more than ever before.
This was just the news Liverpool fans wanted to hear as they have a very healthy relationship with Jurgen Klopp.
