In an interview with beIN SPORTS, Arsene Wenger said that the recent Liverpool addition of Darwin Nunez has not been productive for Jurgen Klopp’s team so far this season.
These remarks were made by the ex-manager of Arsenal in the context of a conversation about the challenges that now confront Liverpool.
Sadio Mane, a striker who represented Senegal internationally and was a member of Liverpool’s team until the summer transfer window, is now playing at Bayern Munich.
The Frenchman observed that Nunez is having a lot of trouble recently and brought up the fact that he began the match between Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield on Saturday on the substitutes’ bench. The score of the Premier League match was 3-3 when it was all said and done.
In the 89th minute, Uruguayan international striker Nunez replaced Spain international midfielder Thiago as a replacement player.
This season, the striker, who is 23 years old, has played four matches in the Premier League for Liverpool, during which he has scored one goal and contributed one assist.
During the summer transfer window, Liverpool broke their own club record by purchasing the teenager from Benfica for the price of £85 million (Sky Sports).
Although Nunez had a strong start to the season for Liverpool, the kid was eventually dismissed from the playing XI and hasn’t really accomplished anything of note since then.
Wenger said: “Nunez at the moment hasn’t worked out for them. They made a big investment, but he is sitting on the bench, and they lost Mane.”
