It has been reported by Defensa Central that Real Madrid is interested in strengthening their full-back options during the summer transfer window and that they have identified Jose Gaya as a potential transfer target.

Gaya has spent his whole professional career at Valencia, having progressed through the club’s divisions. He got a promotion to the senior squad. This was after the departure of Jordi Alba to Barcelona. He has since established himself as the clear number one man for Los Chinos. To date, he has made 282 appearances for his childhood club. He has ended up scoring eight goals and assisting on another 34 others in the process.

Real Madrid Wants To Add More Quality To Their Squad

The completion of the season will mark the beginning of the last year of Gaya’s contract with the Valencian club. It has raised some questions about his long-term future at Mestalla. Barcelona has an interest in signing him as a long-term replacement for the ageing Alba. In addition to Juventus and Barcelona, Real Madrid has also shown an interest in signing the Spaniard.

Real Madrid will need a new left-sided full-back in the summer transfer window due to the impending departure of captain Marcelo. There will be no renewal for the Brazilian, who will be out of contract after the season. Clubs in Brazil want to sign him. MLS club Inter Miami has an interest too.

Real Madrid, will also split ways with teenager Miguel Gutierrez at the same time. Even though the La Fabrica prospect is highly regarded inside the club, he does not have the confidence of boss Carlo Ancelotti. As a consequence, the Spanish capital club may opt to move him in the summer, with the Premier League expressing major interest in doing so.

Los Blancos could have just Ferland Mendy as their sole choice at left-back. In such a scenario, given that David Alaba is being deployed mostly as a centre-half, there could be problems. To address this need, Real Madrid is hunting for a new left-sided full-back. Several players, Fran Garcia like Angelino and Sergio Reguilon are Real Madrid’s targets. Gaya is now appearing as a potential target as well.

The Spanish international wants to extend his stay at Valencia. He loves his role as the team’s captain, according to reports. However, if Real Madrid makes a substantial offer, it has the potential to sway the player’s decision.
