The Rossoneri has already ended up facing the Reds twice in the group stages of the tournament and has suffered two defeats despite taking the lead on both occasions. Juergen Klopp ensured that his wards do not return empty-handed in both the games.
Milan secured a one-goal lead at Anfield but soon conceded the advantage as Liverpool pumped in the equalizer. However, they managed to get their noses ahead again as they went into the breather with a 2-1 lead.
Sadly, for the visitors, their joys were transient as Liverpool came back strongly to score two goals in the second half, walking away with bragging rights.
When the caravan arrived at San Siro, Tomori’s goal had Milan well en route for a fine win as the Italian outfit seemed to be in terrific shape but Salah and Origi had other plans as their individual brilliance helped Liverpool secure 6 wins from 6 games.
Liverpool was tasked with facing Inter Milan in the last 16 of the competition and had a mountain to climb given the decent run for the Nerazzuri. However, they comfortably prevailed away from home as they secured a 2-0 win.
Despite Inter Milan bagging a 1-0 win at Anfield, their numbers fell shorter than that of the Reds. Things could have taken an ugly turn had Inter not lost out on Sanchez after the Chilean was given marching orders within a couple of minutes of the opening goal.
During his press conference, Klopp was asked by a reporter, “How do you view Italian football after facing Inter and Milan?”
Juergen Klopp was heard quoting, “Very good, very good. I like it a lot. Both teams are strong, with players and different styles, but I also like the Milan project very much as well as the approach.”
He further added, “Inter have more experience and a different approach, it is difficult to break free from them. Both teams have exceptional qualities. Atalanta also put us in difficulties, then the Juventus that we all know, then the Napoli that we have often faced. We are experienced with Italian football, when you know you have to face certain teams you don’t party, you know it will be difficult.”
Liverpool’s next assignment is Brighton as they collide at the Falmer Stadium with varied interests on the line.
