Barcelona has been overtly wary of all the transfer developments that surround their players. Ever since, Xavi took over, they have made it very clear that they want their entire band together and if someone will have to rope their player in, it has to be by shelling out an exorbitant amount of one-billion-euro release cause.
Ronald Araujo ended all speculations of him being wooed by other European clubs as he signed a contract extension until 2026. Liverpool was heavily linked with Araujo even though it didn’t seem like an ultimatum. Their CB ranks are at the moment saturated and in the near future don’t seem like opening up.
With Araujo already gone, Liverpool is still keeping an eye on the radar to ensure that if the opportunity for any other European talents opens up, they will pounce upon it, given the unreserved support of FSG.
Despite Araujo’s contract extension for Barcelona, it would still need him some time to be a Blaugrana regular considering the presence of heavier names in their line-up. With the likes of Eric Garcia, Pique, Clement Lengletand Samuel Umtiti being in the line-ups, it won’t be easy for Araujo to make the cut for the playing eleven pretty frequently.
When Pedri, Ansu Fati and Nico Gonzalez bagged impressive deals, it felt that Araujo may be released to the wild. However, Barcelona ensured that they are holding their band back, bringing together the players who can make them a reckoning force again in the upcoming offing.
Now a tactical masterstroke that Barcelona deployed to avert their players being suited away from Camp Nou is that they have pinned a release cause of $ 1 billion and a bargain clause of $ 500 million. That makes the equation very stringent for the Spaniards considering that Barcelona can only spend money if they are making savings which is equivalent to four times their expenditure.
However, now that they have kept Araujo in their ranks, they will need to make a team out of the available players with the possibility of any new players coming in being remote because the Catalans aren’t in a decent financial state. They will have to pull off a miraculous release to get any new player and with the staggering release clauses on the players, it is highly unlikely that any European club would come knocking.
