After almost a decade of relentless spending, most of which went down the drain on wasted players, Manchester United’s new boss means business. As reported by Stretty News, Fabrizio Romano has divulged the latest plans of Eric ten Hag’s United overhaul.
Ten Hag will be in England to oversee Manchester United shortly but before the following season kicks off, you can expect a handful of tectonic movements in the ranks of Manchester United. Despite words of ETH arriving at Manchester at this weekend that will make him miss Ajax’s end-of-season fixture where they will also be relishing their Eredivisie triumph.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Ten Hag has already started looking for possible transfers and the club first wants him to make a decision on three first-team Manchester United players that stars the likes if Marcus Rashford, Eric Bailly and Aaron Wan Bissaka.
Talking in his exclusive column for Caught Offside, Romano gave a detailed insight in into the forthcoming plans of Eric ten Hag. He also touted that Manchester and ETH will be going hot on the heels of Frenkie de Jong. Add to that the return of Donny van de Beek to the midfield that will see the Dutch midfield supremacy at its magnificent best.
Romano quoted, “Erik ten Hag had a meeting with part of the Manchester United board last week, this is confirmed. It happened in Amsterdam, and now he’s planning to fly to England this week to begin internal discussions but Ralf Rangnick will be in charge for United’s last game vs Crystal Palace.”
He would further say, “In the meeting, there was talk of players already in the club, potential new signings and contracts, but also the backroom staff which will include Mitchell van der Gaag as requested by ten Hag.”
Romano would also talk positively about AWB and the possible movement of de Jong. He would say, “Manchester United want decision from ten Hag soon over Eric Bailly, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and also Marcus Rashford, while Frenkie de Jong is certainly a name that has been discussed internally.”
He would further add, “De Jong has been on Ten Hag’s list for some time. They worked well together at Ajax, and the manager loves Frenkie, but the player’s priority is to play Champions League football next season.”
Given how important it is for Manchester United to bag de Jong, one thing needs to be clarified that he is also important to Barcelona and Xavi. Romano would conclude by saying, “It won’t be easy for United either because Barcelona want at least €80-85m to sell De Jong, Xavi will do everything to keep him but it will depend on the financial situation of the club. We know there have been issues there recently, so that could mean further sales after Philippe Coutinho’s loan to Aston Villa was made permanent. We are still at the early stages, so keep an eye out.”
