Former PSG Star Is Heavily Linked With A Move To Arsenal

Arsenal's ambitions have just been sparked

As the transfer window closed with Arsenal still scrambling for a decent moniker to bolster their squads, Tottenham Hotspur defender, Serge Aurier may be header to Emirates.  Though there has been no official confirmation, the former PSG star was released by the Lilywhites on the deadline day, terminating his five-year contract prematurely.

In his start-stop spell at North London, Aurier spent four years at Tottenham and played a decent 77 games for Spurs. He even managed to rack up five goals in his spell as a right-back in London.

Despite his contract being cancelled by Spurs a year earlier than he expected, he may very well be rooted to London itself as Arsenal has expressed interest in the burly right-back.

The current situation looming around Serge Aurier

According to the words of Sky Sports, it won’t be astonishing if Aurier picked arsenal as he hurriedly looks for suitors before the season gets in full swing. If he does manage to notch up an Arsenal move, this would signal a miss of a certain amount of money that Arsenal could have laid their hands upon in case if they have sold him.

However, with the latest signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu, the Gunners may wait awhile before they splash for Aurier. The Ivorian defender was priced at £18 million according to Transfermarkt and Tomiyasu has been given a notch higher than the aforementioned amount.

The damage that Arsenal can deal to Spurs off-pitch

In a fun fact, Tomiyasu was seeking a Spurs move earlier this year before the Gunners came knocking for the exciting young defender.

If Spurs lose out on Aurier to their city rivals, they will mostly be irked, especially with the loss of Tomiaysu earlier and the miss on a potential windfall that they could have bagged from the transfer of Aurier.

Tottenham is currently placed at the top of the table with three victories from three games as Nuno Espirito Santo has led them to a fine start with three slender victories. Arsenal, on the contrary, has been consigned to the bottom of the table with 0 points from three games and a goal difference of -9.
