Surprisingly, despite being accustomed to the entire procedure of the transfer as they already had to perform this while bringing in Amad Diallo, they have been faced with a snag in the case of Rangnick as the Professor has just coached for one season in the last five years.

Ralf Rangnick was at the helm of affairs at RB Leipzig in 2018-19, one of the two coaching spells that he undertook in the last decennium. If he would have managed the club for further 24 months, then he would have automatically met the criterion for automatic selection.

His preceding spell at Leipzig ended in May 2016. Given the gap in the spells and the solitary spell at the German club in the last five years, there is a whole sequence of impediments stationed between the Professor and the Devils.

John Kiely, a solicitor at immigration firm Fragomen, quoted, “Ralf Rangnick’s International Sportsperson visa is delayed because he does not meet the Football Association’s automatic criteria for endorsement. Endorsement is reserved for ‘elite sportspeople or qualified coaches who are able to make a significant contribution to the development of sport at the highest level in the UK.”
