Bernd Leno Hints At Parting Ways With Arsenal In Winter Window

In a recent conversation with SportBild, Arsenal’s goalkeeper Bernd Leno has hinted at a move away from The Emirates as soon as this January when the transfer window opens. Ever since Arsenal have signed Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United, Leno’s involvement has been in doubt. While the German did start the first three games, he conceded a horrific nine goals in just three matches. Seeing this, gaffer Mikel Arteta took a bold step and decided to bench Leno and start Ramsdale instead. While there were questions surrounding the signing of Ramsdale and the price Arsenal paid for him, the tables have turned as he has now become an absolute fan favourite.

Aaron has kept two clean sheets in three games and has conceded only once, his passion and determination on the pitch have led to him being liked by the fans. While Ramsdale enjoys the attention and love of the fans and most importantly, the manager, Bernd Leno has totally been sidelined. The German shot-stopper has been excellent for the Gunners in the past three seasons but not very consistent in his performances, he often made mistakes that led to goals that cost the team massively.

What will Arsenal do with Bernd Leno now?

By the looks of it, it looks certain that Aaron Ramsdale is the future number one goalkeeper for Arsenal and that Bernd Leno isn’t. Does this mean that Arsenal will sell Leno? A point to be noted here is that Leno runs out of contract next season and can walk out and move to another club as a free agent if he wishes to. If Arsenal wants to make any money out of Leno they have to act quickly and make a decision soon.

Here is what Bernd Leno has said about the current situation regarding him, “There was no clear reason why I was out, but it had nothing to do with my performance. He [Arteta] is the trainer, he decides. Of course, it’s difficult for me,” He further answered about the speculations of Inter Milan interested in him, “London is very nice; Milan is not bad either and closer to my home Stuttgart,” It will be interesting to see how things turn out for Leno in the January transfer window.
