Bastian Schweinsteiger Heaps Praises On Manchester United’s Young Midfield Trio

Former Manchester United, midfielder and German legend, Bastian Schweinsteiger heaped praises on the young trio who impressed ever since their inclusion in the first team. Basti recalled how Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay were effervescent ever since they stepped foot in the arcade that has been graced by famous and infamous icons of the game alike.

All three stars of the current Manchester United team emerged during the phase where Bastian Schweinsteiger was a crucial part of Old Trafford. Manchester United has seen these three young phenomena thrive under the reign of three different coaches.

This is what Bastian Schweinsteiger had to say about the prized trio of United

Marcus Rashford has established himself as a successful winger and striker, even though there have been occasional lapses from the speedster. He has netted absolute screamers that comprised a glorious free-kick from 35 yards away, sinking Chelsea in a cup tie.

Jesse Lingard has had his equal shares of troughs and crests where the youngster has impressed heavily at times while his trysts with mediocrity have been fairly predominant. Ever since his loan to West Ham, he has been a much better version of himself with improved runs and a clinical eye for goals.

Scott McTominay has symbolized versatility with a resurgent flair for shooting from range. Under the chaperonage of Ralf Rangnick, he has been bold enough to romp around in uncharted territories where he has been regaining his momentum that caught the eye of Sir Alex Ferguson in his initial days.

The 37-year-old former German attacker was heard quoting to the UTD Podcast, “I tell you one thing: when I was with [Jose] Mourinho and training with the second team and Under-16 team with United, I saw a lot of good players.”

He continued, “One was Scott McTominay, and I thought he will make it for sure, he had those abilities. So United has a good youth team – you just need to use them and give them the time to develop.”

Even though Basti was a part of Old Trafford for two seasons, he could only feature in 18 games that saw him bag just a solitary goal. He left United for Chicago Fire where he played 85 games, which saw him scoring 8 netters to finally put an end to his bedecked career. Manchester United will be up against Middlesbrough on Saturday in the fourth round clash of the FA Cup.
