Barcelona Transfer News: Riqui Puig is likely going to be one of the stars that leaves Barcelona during the summer transfer window. This is because Barcelona is anticipated to sell off numerous players over the course of the summer window.
When the alumnus of La Masia worked his way up through the ranks of the academy and made his debut with the senior squad, he sparked a lot of excitement and raised a lot of expectations. However, things have not gone according to plan for the 22-year-old. He has had a difficult time establishing himself as a regular member of the squad.
Puig was not allowed to participate in any team activities when Ronald Koeman was the manager. Things have not gotten any better for him since Xavi Hernandez took over. In addition, the manager has informed the Spaniard that he is not going to be included in the manager’s plans for the future of the team.
And now, it has been reported by SPORT that Puig is willing to take into consideration the offers that may come his way throughout the summer. Given that his current deal is set to expire in 2023, the club believes that selling the midfielder is the best way to go given the circumstances. They have received interest from four other teams.
Celta Vigo is one of the clubs that are interested in signing Puig because they need a replacement for former Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez, who is leaving the club. Suarez will be playing for another club soon. Puig may be the next player from La Masia to go on to play for the Galician club. In the past, the Galician club has been a desirable destination for several La Masia talents.
Another La Liga team, Valencia, is interested in signing the 22-year-old talent who plays for Barcelona. Los Che is close to hiring Gennaro Gattuso as their new manager. Gattuso is a fan of Puig and wants to make the midfielder one of his first acquisitions at the Mestalla.
Getafe is also interested in Puig and has been a follower of the La Masia product for a significant amount of time. In January, the Madrilenian club had made an effort to sign him. But they had been unsuccessful in their quest. However, Puig may relocate over the summer to reconcile himself with fellow La Masia graduate, Carles Alena.
Andorra, a club in the second division that is owned by Puig’s colleague on the Barcelona football team, Gerard Pique, is also interested. Even though they compete in a lesser division, their manager, Eder Sarabia, has made it clear that he wants to sign the 22-year-old player.
