Arteta shares injury update on Granit Xhaka after Arsenal brushed aside Tottenham

Aubameyang is regaining his shooting form

Xhaka seemed in pain: After a forgetful start to the season with defeats against newly-promoted Brentford, European champions, Chelsea and League winners, Manchester City, Arsenal have finally started to find their footing under the chaperonage of Mikel Arteta.

For the first time in this edition of the Premier League, they looked convincing as they brushed aside their North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur in emphatic fashion with a blazing display from their attacking unit that saw Aubameyang, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka finding the back of the net.

The recent happenings surrounding Xhaka

In the match against City, Granit Xhaka was given marching orders and that forced the Swiss international to be out of action for three matches. However, he continued in practice with renewed vim and vigour but hit a block with an unfortunate injury.

After his suspension was over, he started against Tottenham and belted out a significant display until the 80th minute before he was subbed off. Xhaka took a knock last night as he collided with a Spurs player that made him uncomfortable.

As he hobbled for a minute or two, Arteta decided to throw Lokonga in the mix, taking out the Swiss international, thinking about the upcoming matches.

This is what Arteta said about the Swiss midfielder

While talking about the injury on Xhaka, he cited, “Unfortunately, he got an injury and I’m pretty worried because it doesn’t look very positive at the moment.”

Their next three ties seem relatively easier and will give them an opportunity to climb higher up the pecking order as they take on the likes of Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Leeds United. It will important to Arteta to get Xhaka back on his foot, considering the fact that he is instrumental to the ambitions of the Gunners.

The ties against Crystal Palace and Leeds United will be league encounters while Aston Villa will be meeting Arsenal in an EFL Cup fixture.
