Arsenal Reveal Amount Paid To Aubameyang To Terminate His Contract

The Gunners Have Now Disclosed The Amount Paid To Get Rid Of The Skipper

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left Arsenal on the same day, four years after signing for Arsenal. There was a confirmation on this news recently. There came an end to a 163-game career in north London. He did score 93 goals for Arsenal while winning two trophies. Aubameyang would earn the Premier League Golden Boot winner title, among other honours. Aubameyang is the first player in Arsenal’s history to score a hat-trick in three different competitions: the domestic cup, the league and a European match.

Was Aubameyang really so awful or was retention an option?

A lot will be determined by the last 18 months or so. The fans will remember him for leading the team to FA Cup triumph in 2020. There has now been a revelation about Aubameyang’s Arsenal exit. The Gunners paid the striker a flat payment of £7m to terminate his contract. This happened before his move to Barcelona.

Negotiations would re-ignite under new conditions, this time on a six-month agreement with an option for an extra year, and then on a free transfer, in which the striker would forgo his remaining Arsenal pay to join La Blaugrana, which would be the last stage.

With 18 months remaining on his contract, the club’s notice announcing his departure was released. The move went through by a mutual agreement.’

According to The Times, that amounts to £7m

Arsenal paid the 32-year-old a flat payment of £7m to remove him from their books. This was done in time for the transfer deadline day. The sole purpose was to ensure that he joins Barcelona. It is a whole £20m less than he would have received for the balance of his contract. However, it is not the Willian-style handover that the fans were previously in anticipation of.

Arsenal had no choice but to release him due to the nature of the circumstance. There was clarity that the relationship was severed. That the team was progressing, as seen by Aubameyang’s farewell speech. In it, there was no mention of his previous boss.

As per David Ornstein, the writing was on the wall as soon as the decision was made: “I am told that from the moment he (Aubameyang) was stripped of the captaincy, there was no way back.”

For Arsenal fans let this be the last time they hear the terms ‘mutual consent’ or ‘termination’. It is high time for Arsenal to progress as a football club. They need to stop digging themselves further deeper and deeper into these quagmires.

The most important thing to remember is to quit being foolish. While this one may have come as a surprise, others did not. This tendency needs reversal for the better.
