Leno is thought to be Fulham’s favourite target as they have made it to the Premier League this season. But they want to avoid relegation and hence a squad rebuild is necessary. Since 2013, they have already been relegated four times.

Fulham’s board is in contact with Arsenal but nothing has been decided yet. Bernd Leno would prefer to stay at Arsenal but he may face a lack of playing time next season.

Leno was the top choice goalkeeper for the Gunners between 2018 to 2021. He had his best season in the year 2019 as he helped the team numerous times with his spectacular goalkeeping. Because of this, he finished second in Arsenal’s player of the year vote.

Even in 202o, he played decently and had good figures behind his back. However, Arsenal signed Aaron Ramsdale in the summer of the same year. This decision changed everything.

Arsenal News Transfer: Did Arsenal’s move for Aaron Ramsdale cost Bernd Leno his playing time?

Many questioned Aaron Ramsdale’s move as they thought that goalkeeper was brought from a relegated team. The fans felt that he would be an unnecessary costly addition to the squad. The club made this move possible as they were impressed by Ramsdale’s performances for England.

Still, Arteta went on to start Bernd Leno in last season’s first three league games. But due to their shambolic defense, they conceded nine goals in three matches and the manager decided to use Ramsdale more.

He went ahead with the English goalkeeper and since then he has completely replaced Bernd Leno. Aaron Ramsdale’s ability to provide excellent long balls and his footwork has been a bonus for the team’s buildup.

This has hindered Bernd Leno’s chances as he was restricted to just four appearances last season.

Arsenal even signed Matt Turner from New England Revolution in January, which means that Leno’s importance is dwindling. Sooner or later, many other clubs will be ready to cash in on the German goalkeeper.

He will surely add value to any team that he plays for.
