Arsenal News Transfer: Paul Brown, a journalist for the Daily Star, believes that the addition of Serge Gnabry to Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer “would be a terrific addition.” Arsenal is interested in signing Gnabry.
The player, who is 26 years old and now plays for Bayern Munich, has reportedly been linked with a sensational return to the Emirates Stadium after being unable to reach an agreement with his present club on terms for a new deal.
According to a report in the German tabloid Bild, discussions about Gnabry’s new contract at the Allianz Arena have hit a stalemate. Gnabry’s current agreement is set to end in the summer of 2023.
It is being said that the gifted attacker has no intention of committing his future to the club unless he is presented with a proper agreement. But the higher-ups at Bayern are refusing to budge on the most recent offer they have made for a contract.
It is reported that the team that won the Bundesliga last season is eager to cash in on Gnabry. He has drawn attention from Spanish powerhouses Real Madrid but might yet return to play in north London.
Christian Falk, the head of football for SportBild, said that Arsenal “are interested” in the Germany international player, who “can envision” re-signing with the Gunners.
Falk thinks that the deal is ‘unrealistic this summer’ as a result of Arteta’s squad losing out on a spot in the Champions League for next season. He also suggests that they may have to wait until Gnabry is a free agent before they can acquire his services.
Brown said the following to GiveMeSport: “It would be a tremendous addition. Without a doubt he is quite familiar with the club. However, the consensus in Germany seems to be that if anything like that were to take place, it could only take place during the next season.
And I believe it probably only occurs if Arsenal does qualify for the Champions League because he’s the type of guy that has to be playing in it every year. And I believe that before he signed for Arsenal, he would be seeking for them to demonstrate that they are capable of doing it.”
Owen Hargreaves described Gnabry as “fantastic” during the previous campaign. But Arsenal decided to sell him to Werder Bremen for under £5 million in August of 2016 after he had only made 18 appearances for the senior team at the capital club.
Since then, the multi-talented player has gone on to establish himself as one of the best wingers in football. He has done so by collecting 64 goals and 40 assists in 171 games for Bayern. During this time, the club has won four Bundesliga crowns, one Champions League crown, and two DFB-Pokals.
