The club’s board has been busy dealing with the outgoings in the current transfer window. Players like Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, and Nemanja Matic have already left the club.

Many others are expected to follow suit which leaves a void to fill. Ralf Rangnick had earlier said that United needs to sign at least ten new players to completely change the team.

Although it’s not possible to have signed so many players this summer, Ten Hag has already set his sights on a few players.

Darwin Nunez was a key target for the club and Ten Hag wanted him to spearhead his attack. However, it seems that Liverpool is edging closer to a deal to sign him for £80m.

Manchester United have no choice but to intensify their efforts to sign Frenkie De Jong. The Barcelona midfielder has attracted interest from several top clubs.

He has played 32 games this season and has contributed with three goals and three assists. The last few seasons were a bit difficult for De Jong but this season he has been in sublime form.

Barcelona News Transfer: Would Frenkie De Jong Be An Ideal Signing For Erik Ten Hag?

Frenkie De Jong has played under Ten Hag for three years. Together they won two Eredivisie titles and also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

He would love to play under Ten Hag’s system as a key defensive midfielder. He would be operating besides Fred in the core of the midfield. However, it has been rumored that the club may look to sign another midfielder to support De Jong.

Manchester United is willing to pay £80m (plus £20m in add-ons) but can’t offer Champions League football at the moment. This is one of the factors that have to be worked on as De Jong could get the chance to feature in the league with Barcelona.

As things stand, Ten Hag’s desire to have the player and his new rebuild project could lure Frenkie to make the move this summer.
