Arsenal Have Fixed A Friendly With Reading Behind Closed Doors

The Gunners Will Be Playing This Game To Get Back To Fitness

Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal team have returned to north London after taking a much-needed vacation from the field while practising in Dubai. Arteta and his team had been away for a week to take advantage of the warmer weather. They took a well-deserved opportunity to recharge their batteries. This was after a disastrous start to the season in which the Gunners failed to win a single of their five matches in January. Arsenal suffered elimination from two tournaments and scored just one goal.

After taking into consideration that they were unable in completing a move for any of their target players during the winter window, January was a particularly dreadful month. It is something that every Arsenal fan will want to forget.

So it was crucial to have the training camp in Dubai. While it provided the team with an opportunity to regain the fitness that many of them had lost over the month of January, it also provided an excellent opportunity for them to bond as a unit and divert their attention away from the Premier League.

In the wake of Arsenal’s disappointment in the FA Cup, Arsenal has announced a friendly with Reading behind closed doors

Arteta’s overstretched side suffered humiliation at the hands of Nottingham Forest. They ended up losing 1-0 in the third round of the FA Cup. As the fourth is being played this weekend, Arsenal supporters will have to wait even longer before seeing their team in action. This will take place when they meet Wolves on February 10.

A friendly with Reading has been scheduled to make up for the loss of the match. According to Reading manager Charles Watts, the game will not be particularly important. Having been knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round by Kidderminster in a shocking loss, the Royals are a perfect opponent against which to improve match fitness levels.

London Colney will host the match over the weekend. Most of the players are ready to participate in a much-needed training session. Essentially, it will function similar to the games they played during the summer. There will be no telecast of this match as well, similar to some of the previous ones.

On the contrary, Wolves will take on struggling Championship club Norwich City. It will be a more competitive build-up game to the massive match at Molineux in the FA Cup fourth round. Ideally, Arteta would choose his strongest possible squad against the Championship side.
