Things have turned around for Eddie Nketiah, as he looks to be the striker in form for the Gunners. After Alexandre Lacazette could not find his feet mid-season, the young Englishman stepped up and has made the first-team spot his own since then. There were a lot of doubts as to how well he would do, considering that he had been poor in the seasons that had gone by.
Despite that, Eddie Nketiah has not disappointed the fans so far. He even surprised manager Mikel Arteta, who recently admitted that he was shocked and didn’t expect that. With that being said, the striker got a couple of goals in the first half against Leeds as well.
The first one he scored all on his own, with his hard work. It is this pressing that had impressed Arteta in the first place. This made the fans really happy and everyone at the Emirates was impressed by Eddie Nketiah and his relentless nature.
The first goal was a huge mistake by Illan Meslier and it gave Eddie Nketiah the chance to press and finish. The Leeds goalie lost the ball and eventually ended up paying for his mistake.
The second goal was a brilliantly constructed goal by Gabriel Martinelli. He got a lot of freedom to play on the left flank. This was possible with Tomiyasu coming into the team on the left. It reduced his work of tracking back and he was more comfortable than the times when Nuno Tavares would play behind him.
Well, it was a great first half for the Gunners and it started really positively. The fans were loving the new anthem that was playing in the stadium as well. This is the last home game of the season and Champions League football could be returning to Arsenal next year. Eddie Nketiah would surely want to be part of that.
