Arsenal Can Sign One Of These 4 Left-Backs To Solve Their Crisis In That Position

As a result of the troubles of Kierney and Nuno Tavares, Arsenal may be on the lookout for a new left-back. Tierney has been sidelined with several ailments since joining the club in north London. He has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Tavares’ manager, Mikel Arteta, may be hesitant to put his faith in the 22-year-old in the future after he was sent off at halftime during his side’s 3-0 Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Tavares was also substituted 10 minutes before half-time when the Gunners were upset by Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup earlier this season. As a result, Arteta may determine that he needs troops in that region.

Here is a look at four left-backs that Arsenal might sign soon

#1 Oleksandr Zinchenko

Oleksandr Zinchenko, the star left-back for Manchester City, initially joined the club as a midfielder in 2017. He was then converted to a left-back. Moreover, when called upon, he has performed well.

The Ukraine international has made 118 appearances for City. But he has struggled to hold down a starting position since the arrival of Joao Cancelo. And, at the age of 25, he may be enticed to join a club where he will have a better chance of being called up to the first team.

#2. Alex Grimaldo

Alex Grimaldo, the left-back for Benfica, has been projected to go on to greater and better things. He might provide a boost to Arsenal’s defensive line if Arteta can convince him. His development began with Barcelona’s youth system. Yet he never played for the Catalan giants in the main squad. He is now 26 years old.

Grimaldo is well-known for his offensive skills. He has amassed an incredible 19 goals and 49 assists in 245 appearances for Benfica thus far. Moreover, one of those assists came during this season’s Champions League campaign. In that game, Benfica upset Ajax in the round of 16 to advance to the quarter-finals against Liverpool.

Here are the Next 2 options:

#3 Kyle Walker-Peters

Kyle Walker-Peters can play on either side of the defence, making him a very flexible option for the club. The 24-year-old has made an impact for Southampton since coming from Tottenham in 2020. He earned his international debut for England against Switzerland earlier this month.

Arteta came may not be successful in convincing the player. Walker-Peters, on the other hand, maybe eager to demonstrate that he has what it takes to thrive at one of the so-called “big six” teams.

#4 Marcos Alonso

Marcos Alonso of Chelsea is another left-back with Premier League experience that Arsenal may be interested in signing. The 31-year-contract old’s at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer of 2022. He is expected to fall behind Ben Chilwell in terms of playing time once the England international returns to fitness.

Chelsea may be eager to offload the salaries of the Spain international off their books. As a result, a relocation across the capital is a possibility.
